C

Computer Download


The means to retrieve and save your Conference Recording for playback on computers and digital audio players. Download is only available when on conference calls you have chosen to be recorded. We provide you with a link to your recordings in MP3 format. Once you download the recording you can play it on your computer or send it by e-mail to your friends and colleagues.





Conference Call


A telephone meeting which involves three or more telephone lines connected via a conference bridge. This is also known as audio conference call and teleconferencing.





Conference ID


A set of numeric digits entered after dialing the conference call dial-in number and being connected to the conference bridge. The conference id directs the caller to the appropriate conference call.





Conference Recording


A digital audio recording of your conference call. It can be saved to your computer as an MP3 audio file for playback on your own devices or you can use our playback number (712-831-9313) to allow users to listen to a previously recorded conference call on their phones.





Conference Bridge


A computer with special telecommunications software, dedicated to managing the resources available for audio conferences.





Conversation Mode


This mode provides an open, un-muted conference in which all participants can speak freely. This mode works best for small groups of conference callers. At any time during a conference, the conference moderators can switch between Conversation Mode, Q&A Mode and Presentation Mode.

Dial-in number


The telephone number each participant dials on their telephone to access a conference call.






E

Entry and Exit Tones


When this conference call control is enabled, a sound will signal when a new Participant has joined the conference. This is useful for the Moderator to welcome new conference Participants, and is accessible by entering the Moderator Pin at the start of a conference. At any time during a conference, conference Moderators can turn the Entry Tones and Exit Tones on and off.






L

Locking the Conference


This can be used for increased conference security, by preventing additional Participants from joining the conference, and is accessible by those who provide the Moderator Pin when entering a conference. At any time during a conference, conference Moderator can lock or unlock the conference call.






M

MP3 File


A compressed digital audio file that allows for fast and easy transfer of audio over the Internet. Computers are equipped with audio file players supporting MP3 playback (e.g. Windows Media Player, iTunes, etc.).





Moderator


The person who is responsible for arranging the conference and is usually the host or leader of the conference. The Moderator enters the conference using a special Moderator Pin.





Moderator Pin


This code is entered by the conference Moderator in order to join a conference. It allows the Moderator to access enhanced conference controls. See our Pocket Guide for more details. The Moderator Pin can be given to any or all Participants who will be given Moderator privileges.





Mute


To prevent sound from your telephone reaching the conference call. See our Pocket Guide.

Participant


An individual who is a member of a conference call.





Playback Dial-in Number


A telephone Dial-in Number used to access Telephone Playback of a Conference Recording. Our Playback number is 712-831-9313.





Presentation Mode


This mode automatically mutes members of the conference call who entered the Conference ID, enabling conference Participants to listen without being able to speak to others on the conference. This mode works best with large groups of conference callers for reducing background noise, and is accessible to those who provide the Moderator Pin when entering a conference. At any time during a conference, conference Moderator can switch between Presentation Mode, Conversation Mode. See our Pocket Guide for more details. Presentation Mode can also be specified in advance during the Web scheduling process on Web-scheduled conference calls.






Q

Q&A Mode


This mode allows Participants to un-mute themselves, permitting a 'question and answer' or interactive session to be held during a conference call that was preset to Presentation Mode. This mode is accessible to those who provide the Moderator Code when entering a conference. At any time during a conference, conference Moderator can switch between Presentation Mode, Conversation Mode. See our Pocket Guide for more details. Presentation Mode can also be specified in advance during the Web scheduling process on Web-scheduled conference calls.

Reservationless Conference

Telephone Playback
